Recital given by Gemma McGregor (Flute) and George McPhee

The series of lunchtime recitals in Paisley Abbey continues on Saturday 8 November with an interesting programme for flute and organ given by Orkney based Gemma McGregor and Paisley Abbey Director of Music, George McPhee.
The Programme of pieces, mainly for flute and organ includes
- J.S. Bach – Prelude and Fugue in G major BWV 541
- G.F. Handel – Sonata No. 6 in C major Opus 1 No.7 for Flute and Organ
- Eddie McGuire – Dialogue for Flute and Organ
- J.S. Bach – Sonata No. 4 in C major BWV 1033 for Flute and Organ
Gemma McGregor is a musician from Orkney and a doctorate composition student at Aberdeen University. She studied flute as an undergraduate at Darlington College of Arts, learning Baroque flute with Ann Kimber and contemporary flute with Kate Lucas. Her repertoire includes a wide range of styles that include playing Baroque music with Aberdeen’s Early Music Collective and traditional music with several Orkney groups. She researches and collects Orcadian folk music and is leader of the Orkney Heritage Fiddle Project. Gemma
