The Vestry is seeking an Organist to play and direct a small, capable choir (7-8 voices) for Sunday services, and the major Festivals. Sung Eucharist is at 10.30am. There is no regular Evensong, but there are periodic joint choral services with New Kilpatrick Church choir.
At present, choir practice is held at 9.30am on Sundays, with an introit and anthem sung every week.
We have a very rare small Romantic organ of 13 stops, 2 manuals and pedal, opus 1172, by Wilhelm Sauer of Frankfurt on Oder, probably the only Sauer in the UK. The pipework is original with no additions. It is well voiced for the accompaniment of the congregation, and has a wide dynamic range and a variety of colours which belies its modest specification. Tuning and maintenance are carried out as required. See https://bearsden.church.scot/about-us/sauer-organ/ for more details.
The post is vacant from September 2018 and remuneration is in accordance with RSCM guidelines. Deputies are available, and congregation and clergy are musically very supportive and well informed.
Please send applications to John Brooker, Secretary to the Vestry – email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please contact the Rector, Kirstin Freeman, at email@example.com if you would like an informal conversation about the role before placing an application.
