Lunchtime Recital given by Chris Bragg (organ)……Paisley Abbey, Saturday 26 September at 12.30pm
The series of Abbey winter recitals starts on Saturday when Chris Bragg gives an exciting recital on the Abbey’s Cavaille Coll organ.
Chris Bragg was born in Stirling in 1980. Following a period as organ scholar of Dunblane Cathedral under the tutelage of Matthew Beetschen, he studied at the former RSAMD graduating in 2002 as a pupil of George McPhee and Michael Harris. Between 2002 and 2009 he lived in the Netherlands where he completed his Master’s organ study in the class of Pieter van Dijk at the Conservatory of Amsterdam as well as studying clavichord with Menno van Delft. In addition, he undertook private organ study with Pier Damiano Peretti in Hanover and a church music diploma at the Conservatory of Utrecht.
Chris Bragg has performed solo recitals in six European countries and broadcast on both British and Dutch radio. He is Concerts Administrator at the University of St Andrews, organist of St Salvador’s Episcopal Church in Dundee and is further active as a freelance organist, teacher, translator and writer, contributing regularly to the Rhinegold publication ‘Choir and Organ’.

JOHN RILEY will present a Masterclass from 1:30pm – 3.15pm, then at 3:30pm give a short recital which is open to the Public. The masterclass will allow for demonstration and practical playing, so come along and don’t be shy. This is an opportunity to hear the recently refurbished Hilsdon two-manual organ.

COME AND SING STAINER’S CRUCIFIXION

Choirs, organists and interested singers are invited to join in a ‘Come and Sing’ performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion in Motherwell Cathedral. The afternoon rehearsal will start promptly at 12.30pm. Following a refreshment break, choir, soloists and organist will present Stainer’s Crucifixion at 3.30pm. All are welcome.
