A Soldier’s Requiem
The Choir of The Academy of Sacred Music
will be performing the world première of a new work,
A Soldier’s Requiem, by Julian Hodgson,
written for the centenary of The First World War.
The performance will be conducted by the Composer and will feature
a selection of other works which capture the horror, bravery, sacrifice
and sympathy inspired by The Great War amongst some of our
most celebrated poets and composers, including:
They are at rest (Elgar);
Funeral Ikos (Tavener);
Lead Kindly Light (Goodall);
The Road Not Taken (Thompson);
Songs of Farewell (Parry);
& pieces by Hodgson, Daley, Harris, Jenkins and Nardone.

David Hamilton one of the LSO members is doing the complete organ works of Franck on Wednesdays 17, 24 & 31 October at 7pm in St Aloysius Church, Glasgow.

‘This special series of three organ recitals will see renowned musician David Hamilton perform the complete organ works of César Franck, performed on an instrument built in the style of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, the great 19th-century French organ builder. These recitals are supported by Alliance Française de Glasgow.’

Our April event is a members recital at Hamilton West Parish Church on Saturday 21 April at 2.30pm. All are invited to this OPEN recital.
Hamilton West Church is located conveniently next to Hamilton West train station. There is ample parking in the car parks nearby.
John Burnett – member of the Lanarkshire Society of Organists – is giving a recital in Calderbank Parish Church on Sunday 25th March at 2.30pm

Due to the current weather and uncertainty about it clearing over the weekend we have reluctantly decided to postpone our Songs of Praise due this Sunday evening at Dalziel St Andrews Church.
We will let folks know the revised date, as soon as it is arranged. It will still focus on Week of prayer and support financially St Andrews Hospice.

Our annual songs of praise takes place in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Using the material for the week, well loved hymns with readings and reflections from the service.
This year the choirs of Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church and Bellshill Central Parish Church combine to help lead the singing.
An offering will be uplifted in support of St. Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie.
Please do mark the date and come along, bringing some friends with you too!!!
